Basic Knowledge about Infectious Diseases

The course provides a useful introduction to themes related to the transmission of infections for anyone working with people affected by or at risk of infections diseases. This might included people who work in homelessness, community services, harm reduction, alcohol and other drugs, non-clinical health services and youth services. 

This course is designed for anyone interested in learning about infectious diseases and sexually transmitted diseases. It provide general information and is not designed for health professionals. The content is not for clinical practice and is not to be considered medical advice.  

This course is divided into two parts. In part one you'll learn about signs and symptoms: the flu, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS. In part two you'll learn about sign and symptoms: chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital warts, genital herpes, Trichomonas Vaginalis and  Syphilis. We also explain how works pre- and post-test counseling.

The course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Each part consists of materials to read or watch, and ends with a short quiz to check your knowledge.
